KOTA TINGGI: Some 30 Kota Tinggi Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia division members and grassroots leaders have left the party with immediate effect.

Kota Tinggi Srikandi division chief Zaharah Kassim said the decision was made due to loss of faith and disappointment towards the party leadership.

” No one is forcing us to leave and there is no political conspiracy as alleged.

“We left the party willingly and more members are expected to leave,” she said, adding that the 30 individuals include 10 from the party’s youth wing Armada.

Asked if the decision has anything to do with the sexual harassment case involving Sedili incumbent assemblyman Rasman Ithnain, she said that it has nothing to do with it.

“This is my personal decision. It has nothing to do with the case or the assemblyman or whether he is contesting in the election,” she said.

Last month, a woman in her 20s filed a police report, claiming that Rasman had sexually harassed her on more than one occasion.

Rasman denied the accusation, claiming that it was a political conspiracy and an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
